Brains on fire lesson 2

Lesson 2

Movements Start with the First Conversation

Instead of doing all the talking, let your customer and their customers do all the talking. It’s a far more important job to sit back and listen and gain some insight on what you don’t know. It’s not about what you think; It’s about what you don’t know. Success comes from admitting that you don’t know what you don’t know.
You don’t have to worry about your competition knowing what you are doing, don’t be paranoid because in the end you want people to talk about what you are doing. By letting people talk you are making them feel important, feel like they are a part of something big, let them talk, let them tell others, after all, that’s what word-of-mouth marketing is all about, and that’s how movements get ignited.
If you have a conversation with your customer that is filled with honesty, transparency, true interest, and a lot of listening, then you’ve planted the first seed. The movement has begun in one mind and one heart. And that’s usually the beginning of some- thing powerful, meaningful, and full of potential that gets realized more every day.
The answers wont always be there but don’t get frustrated remember after all we are all human.
When you’re igniting a movement and openly ask for people to get involved on the ground level, you’re helping them create a story. And stories can be very powerful.
So follow the bouncing ball. Movements start with the first conversation. Those conversations create stories. And those stories connect people.
